The medical university Karolinska Institutet has on behalf of the National Board of Health and Welfare prepared two e-learning courses on Covid-19. The objective is to strengthen preparedness and provide information on the most important principles and challenges involved in the work to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Focus is on principles of hygiene and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Everyone has a responsibility to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The Public Health Agency of Sweden ("Folkhälsomyndigheten") has issued the following general advice aimed at businesses in Sweden:

  • Display information for visitors, employees and customers.
  • Have distance markings on the floor where queues can form.
  • Rearrange the layout in a way that avoids congestion.
  • Hold digital meetings.
  • Make sure that people can wash their hands with soap and water or use hand sanitiser.

Advice for restaurants, cafés and bars

To reduce the spread of Covid-19, new rules also apply to restaurants, cafés and bars.

  • There must be no crowding of people in queues, at tables, buffets or bar counters. Visitors must be able to maintain a distance between each other.
  • Visitors must eat and drink while seated at a table. Staff must serve orders at the table.
  • If it is possible to allow the guests to order and collect food and drink themselves, this is allowed as long as it does not cause crowding or queues.
  • Takeaway food may be handed over as usual, as long as it takes place without crowding between people.

Advice and tips for company owners 

The pandemic is making great demands on everyone who runs a business. Customers and guests need to social distance and wash their hands, which affects how you can sell your goods or services. Remind your visitors about how to best avoid spreading infection. Help your guests by cordoning off with tape, using floor stickers, pavement signs, posters, and table runners where there is a risk of congestion.
